Immigration Resources and Support

UT Dallas hosts students from a wide variety of backgrounds, and the diversity of our campus is one of our greatest strengths. The ISSO is here to support students of all backgrounds in managing their immigration needs.

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and Undocumented Students

We value all of our students and want to support your personal, academic, and professional goals. UT Dallas offers a variety of resources to assist you and can also help you connect with off-campus resources to meet your needs.

Resources

Mental Health

  • Student Counseling Center provides counseling and mental health services to students by appointment.
  • Comet Voice: All members of our UT Dallas community share a collective responsibility to make our campus peers feel welcome, safe and comfortable. Comet Voice is an initiative to empower students with the confidence and skills to stand up and step in when needed.
  • Employee Assistance Program: If you are an employee of UT Dallas seeking counseling help for yourself or a family member, you are eligible for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Free and confidential services are available to assist you and your family with issues affecting home and/or work. For more information, visit the EAP website or call 214-648-5330.

Career Resources

Finances

  • Student Emergency Grant Program provides aid for students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Students can apply for unforeseen, short term financial support.
  • The Office of Financial Aid can assist with aid and scholarships. Students may qualify for state financial aid programs by completing the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). Questions about eligibility and requirements for these aid programs should be directed to the Office of Financial Aid.

Academics

  • Graduation Help Desk provides support to help undergraduate students address obstacles to a timely graduation.

Legal

Dependents

If you are in a dependent immigration status, meaning you are accompanying a spouse or parent who holds the primary immigration status, the ISSO is here to support you. If you are a child dependent, then keep in mind that you can only hold your dependent status until you are 21. We recommend planning ahead to either change your immigration status or depart the U.S. prior to your 21st birthday.

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) Information

The Secretary of Homeland Security may designate a foreign country for Temporary Protected Status due to conditions in the country that temporarily prevent the country’s nationals from returning safely, or in certain circumstances, where the country is unable to handle the return of its nationals adequately.
