Cross-Cultural Activities

If you are an international student and a participant in the J-1 program, your home country trusts you to enrich your academic experience by participating in cross-cultural opportunities, thus increasing understanding between the people of your country and the people of the United States.

The UT Dallas International Center leads this mission with a growing number of cross-cultural events that give you the opportunity to learn about U.S. culture, and share your unique perspective, culture, and traditions with Americans and other international students.

To stay updated about upcoming events, join the Facebook group. A full list of events can be found on International Center Events webpage, some cross-cultural events are highlighted below:

iFriend

iFriend is a cultural exchange program that allows members of the UTD community to learn about new cultures and make new friends! International students are paired or grouped with American students and/or UTD faculty and staff members. iFriends meet once per week for eight weeks to discuss cultural topics and take part in cultural activities. Registration opens at the beginning of each long semester (Fall and Spring). Please contact ICPrograms@utdallas.edu for questions and more information

Cultural Trips

The International Center offers several trips to sites throughout Dallas and the surrounding area during the academic-year. These trips allow students to learn about Texas culture, meet other students, and experience American culture. Check your e-mail or view the International Center Events webpage to find upcoming trips.

International Week (iWeek)

International Week (iWeek) is an annual UT Dallas tradition, taking place in early April. It is a celebration of the cultural diversity at UT Dallas. The two signature events, Passport to the World and International Talent Show, allow you to showcase clothing, art, music, and food from your home country.

J-1 Luncheons

Meet other J-1 students and International Center staff in an informal setting. Luncheons are held each semester and students are encouraged to bring their family members to this free, fun event.
